Bengaluru: In the midst of an unprecedented anger against the rape of a gang followed by a statement not sensitive by several ministers blaming the healers, the BJP State warned senior party and Mla officials not to issue a statement about the incident.
“The party has recorded a salty statement made by several ministers.
I have asked all ministers, including the Minister of Home Affairs, not to issue any statement about Mysuru’s incident,” said BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He acknowledged the ‘insensitive’ statement had damaged the party’s image to a certain extent.
The party’s sources said Minister of Rumah Araga Jnanendra was scheduled to hold a press conference after the arrest of six was accused, but the DGP Praveen Sood was asked to do so.
CM Basilvaraj Bommai also asked for his minister to be careful when making a statement about sensitive problems such as rape incidents.
He told Stoi that he would increase this problem with these ministers at the next cabinet meeting.
When several RSS officials, including his spokesman, were asked about the statement of the minister, they refused to comment on saying, “the problem is in the legal purview now.” But some female activists slammed ministers, said that such a statement reflected sexism that was rooted in society.
“This is a typical mentality of the patriarchal society who always tries to blame women and limit their movements instead of making criminal crimes and instill fear.
It needs to be cursed with strong …, ” said Sudeshna Mukherjee, Associate Professor at the Center for Women’s Study , Bangalore University.
Tourism Minister Anand Singh conducted U-turn on Saturday and said: “Gang Rape is a horrendous action, and those who spoil it must be punished hard.
Our government is committed to limiting these actions.
Women must be given a rifle license to protect themselves from the intense incident and for self-defense.
