Bengaluru: With a focus on increasing the second dose of Covid-19 vaccination, the Department of Health and Family Welfare has directed district officials to verify data and identify duplicate entries between those who have taken the first dose.
Of the total 2.2 crore people who have taken the first dose in the state, only 54 lakh utilizing the second dose so far.
However, the Ministry of Health official said the number of people waiting for the second dose increased due to duplication in the recipient’s name and telephone number.
Because of technical disruptions, many of which take the second dose have been issued the first dose vaccine certificate.
Arundhathi Chandrashekar, the mission of the Director, National Health Mission, Karnataka, said it was estimated at 30-40% of data relating to those who had received the first dose duplicated, inflating numbers.
The state now makes an effort to contact people who are waiting for the second dose either by telephone or message from the country portal and co-Win, he said.
Karnataka Vaccination Support, WhatsApp service run by Stepone, a private company working with the state government, also sends messages to people who are due to the second dose.
Error in the name, NumbersOfficials said staff in vaccination centers registered more looking for the second dose because of errors in telephone numbers or errors in their spelling names when they received the first dose.
This has resulted in an increase in their number that has taken the first dose and reduces the number that has received the second dose.
They said the district had been asked to mobilize Asha workers to verify the list of first dose recipients.
Officials said the problem was not unique to Karnataka; Some countries have raised this problem with the central government.
“People may have given one telephone number when registering for the first and other doses when taking the second dose.
The website checks someone’s ID or telephone number.
If co-win, for any reason, do not receive a telephone number or ID, the person is registered And added as a new recipient, “Chandrashekar said.
He added: “District will now have to tell us the duplication level of data.
All the first doses must be contacted and checked to find out how many of them took the second dose too.” Not as Highdr Srinivas G, Bengaluru District Health Officer, said 20 of Every 1,000 people who are considered to only take a dose will get their second dose too.
“This is a problem, but not as high as 30% in Bengaluru Urban.
This is caused by error entry data in feeding the cellphone number or vaccine recipient ID,” Dr.
Srinivasa said.
Dr.
Srinivasa said that because a mix of telephone numbers and co-Win ID some of them received vaccines would not get their first dose certificate.
“Many cases like that only illuminate when the recipient returns for the second dose.
They then found no data related to their first dose in the system.
This is mostly mismanagement from the data entry staff,” he said.
He also shows that there are technical disturbances with co-win portals too.
“In many cases, people do not have evidence after receiving the first dose either in the form of SMS or certificates.
When they appear for the second dose, if the system does not validate their registration, they are registered new and treated as the first dose recipient,” Other District Health Officers said , Officials said the co-win portal, under the ‘Lift Problem’ link, now has facilities to combine two first dose certificates so that the Covid final vaccination certificate can be obtained.
