K’Taka considered bringing anti-conversion law: cm

Bengaluru: Head of Karnataka Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said the state government was considering the law in the assembly to prevent religious repentance.
“We are thinking of bringing anti-conversion law,” said Bommai.
Head of the Minister of Karnatakaka responded to allegations of repentance in Yadgir after a forced conversion report from the region.
“There are complaints of forced conversion in the state.
There is serious thinking about formulating laws to regulate it completely,” he said.
On September 21, the Minister of Home Karnataka Araga Jnanendra also said that the government thought of carrying anti-conversational laws in the state and for that, they read other state laws.
“We plan to bring bills (anti-conversion bills).
Some countries have brought anti-conversion bills.
We will learn it and we will bring the bill,” said the Minister of Home Affairs.
Previously in April this year, Gujarat Vidhan Sabha has passed ‘Gujarat Religious Freedom Act, 2021’ with the majority to bring a more stringent punishment to the conversion of religion forced through marriage.
Gujarat has become the third country after Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to make a law against the conversion of forced religion.
