K’taka government table bills to ban web games to benefit

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Friday introduced bills in the legislative assembly to ban online games for online gambling and gambling and betting to curb harmful effects of betting placement through internet and cellular applications.

For the second violation, a one-year jail and a fine of RS 15,000.
For the third violation, it was an 18-month prison and a fine of RS 20,000.
People who help or conspire playing online games will also be punished.
Game instruments include any article that is intended to be used as a game tool, including computers, computer systems, cellular applications, or internet or cyberspace, virtual platforms, computer networks, computer resources, electronic devices, software, and accessories.
They also include how to play online games, any document, list or recording or evidence of any game in electronic or digital form, the results of every online game or winner or prize for distributed or intended to be distributed.
