K’Taka Hijab Row: ‘Political Party triggers fire’

Bengaluru: The political parties and their students were blamed for changing the college campus into a nest of protests, violence and politics to wear headscarves in Karnataka.
“This is a political crisis, not a student,” is how an academic from Mangaluru describes the pulpit.
“Wearing a hijab was a non-problem until last year when Muslim students were allowed to attend classes wearing headscarves and even Hindu students had no doubts about it.
This until the government PU College was led by the Udupi BJP MLA decided to stop Muslim girls from Wear a headscarf to class, “he added.
Former Minister of Education and Senior BJP MLA S Semesh Kumar said politics was clearly behind the latest incident.
“Political leaders must rise above party affiliates and guide students on the right path.
Otherwise we will mislead the whole generation,” he added.
Those who are familiar with coastal carataka politics and the Malnad region said the hijab and saffron shawl protests and violence were the result of the battle between the BJP and the Indian Social Democratic Party (SDPI), the political wing in front.
“The majority of students staging protests for and against the use of headscarves to the class being supported by the campus in front of India (CFI), the wing of SDPI students, and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the BJP student wing,” acknowledged some students who were frustrated in Udupi.
According to them, ABVP has influenced coastal areas and Malnad for the past few decades, but the increase in CFI has caused more clashes and campus communication.
CFI’s growth, students said, directly related to the increasing influence of SDPI in areas where they have won several local agencies with Muslim voter support at the cost of congress.
After the hijab problem increased, Congress, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi were also involved.
