Bengaluru: The Ministry of Public Works Department CC Patil said on Monday, he would instruct all representatives of the police commissioners and supervisors to eliminate non-scientific and unnecessary humps or lift the crossing of pedestrians on the state highway.
He gave this guarantee in the Assembly after members of cross-lines, including speakers Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, criticized his department to cause discomfort for motorists by building a well-planned hump.
In the answer to the question raised by Congress MLA KR Ramesh Kumar, the state government said that 70 of the 84 humps were created on the stretch of highway 83 km between Mulbagalu and Chikkaballapur were not scientific.
It also revealed that there were 33 pedestrian crossings raised on a 52 km stretch between Hoskote and Madikeri Cross.
“Going with the government’s answer, it is clear that there are humps every kilometer.
If this is the situation, what is the point of building a highway? Who is responsible for this unscientific element? The government must suspend the responsible officer,” said Ramesh Kumar.
Members of Kageri and BJP Kg Bopaiiah also expressed displeasure.
“Officials heeded the demands of the locals and bowed without applying their thoughts.
Instead of creating awareness among the local residents about the rules, they shifted responsibility for selected representatives and made US criminals in the public eye,” Kageri said.
Patil said that the practice of creating points raised on the highway had existed for a long time and the suspended official was not the answer to the problem.
Improve the responsibility of Kumar Irked.
“If our worries are not handled and the official is not punished, why must MLA raise the problem of public interest at home.
Somehow you provide concrete guarantees or I will not only attract my question but never ask any questions in the future,” he said.
