Bengaluru: Karnataka on Friday searching for additional funding allocations from the center to improve and modernize the Primary Health Center (PHC) under the National Health Mission (NHM).
The Chairperson of the State Minister for Bubavaraj Bommai and Minister of Health Dr K Sudhakar met the Mansukh Mandaviya Health Minister in New Delhi and seek funds, Sudhakar’s office said in a statement.
“The Karnataka government plans to improve and modernize all PHCs in the state and we have been looking for additional allocation under the NHM for this purpose.
The center has responded positively to our requests,” said Sudhakar as quoted.
The minister said he had also discussed about strengthening trauma, secondary and tertiary treatments in all districts throughout the state.
According to him, Mandaviya appreciated Karnataka’s efforts in Covid-19 management.
The state has an inventory of more than 50 lakh vaccine doses and has reached 82 percent coverage in the first dose and 37 percent coverage in the second dose among the qualified population.
Sudhakar said the state government was awaiting the guidelines of the Center for vaccination children.
“Vaccines for children are in the trial phase and the center will soon decide after discussing with vaccines.
We may not let our vigilance against the pandemic,” said the minister by looking at the approaching festival.
He added that the country was doing about one Lakh Covid test every day and the level of participation was less than 0.4 percent.
So, it doesn’t need to panic, said Dr.
K Sudhakar.
