Tumakuru: A 13-year-old boy was chosen as the successor to Yathishwara Shivacharya Swami, head of the Kupuru Gadduge Samsthana Mutt in Chiksayatahalli Taluk from the Tumkuru District, who died on Saturday.
The Minister of Law and Parliament JC Madhuswamy said the succession was in accordance with the desire Seer who had died that his nephew took over 500 years old Veerashaiva.
The Jasas, The New Seer, was studying in 8th grade in a private school in Kamasamudra, Hassan District.
“The Jejas Devaru will do his job as a new seer of Mutt and will also continue his education,” said Kuppuru Gadduse Mutt Br B Br Girish to Ti.
Thejas is a young Mahesh and Kanthamani, who lives in Mutt.
Mutt officials and family members claim the boy agreed to take responsibility.
Yathishwara Shivacharya Swami was received at Siddagah Hospital in Tumakuru because he suffered from Covid-19.
He died of a heart attack on Saturday night.
Gadduse Mutt’s kupuru head has been from the same family for the last 500 years.
