K’Taka: Panel to develop ‘Super 30’ Auc Colleges

Bengaluru: The committee consisting of academics, industry leaders and officials, among others, will be formed to develop the ‘Super 30’ of college techniques in the state by taking one institution in each district.
This will be led by Prof.
Karisiddappa, Representative of Chancellor, VTU.
The decision was taken during a preliminary meeting chaired by the Minister of Higher Education CN Ashwath Narayan on Friday.
Narayan said the goal of the committee was to focus on providing quality teaching in each district and fulfilling industrial requirements.
“Wherever collegen government techniques exist, they will be considered as a priority, and in districts without government universities, private engineering colleges will be chosen,” he said, adding that universities were well known for quality education would not be included.
“But those who lack quality teaching will be taken to be developed as a college model.
This development will primarily concentrate on faculty training, industrial collaboration, establishing laboratories and foreign collaborations rather than physical infrastructure,” he said.
The minister said to start, one department in each selected college will be taken for an upgrade and later, the initiative will be extended to all institutions.
Narayan said the funds needed for this will be distributed in the following ratios – 1/3 will come from the company’s CSR funds, 1/3 of VTU and 1/3 of the institution itself.
Chosen Colleges will be connected to the leading industry and the latter will be allowed to guide universities.
It is also recommended to tie alumni.
