K’Taka: Prohibition of Giving Garlands, Scarves on Government Events

Bengaluru / Mangaluru: The chairman of the Basavaraj Minister Bommai on Tuesday said the government had banned the practice of giving a bouquet of flowers, scarves, bouquets and memorabilia to those events, overriding them ‘unnecessary expenditure’.
Bommai who led a senior police official meeting refused to accept bouquets and said the practice must be done.
Head of Secretary Karnataka P Ravi Kumar issued a circular direction not to provide bouquets, scarves, bouquets of flowers, fruit baskets and memorabilia at meetings and events organized by the state government and institutions managed by the government.
“This direction must be strictly followed by all government departments and institutions under the government,” CS said in a circle.
Recently, Energy and Kannada & Minister of Culture V Sunil Kumar begged those who came to greet him not to give bouquets and gifts and request Kannada books instead, which he will donate to the library in the Karkala electoral district.
Kumar collected more than 1,000 books within five days to be installed into a bommai cabinet.
Toi has written about posting ministers on social media asking their supporters not to respect him with bouquets.
He also asked good party workers and sympathizers not to hold a Felicitation program considering the scenario of Pandemi.
