K’Taka reduces taxes in Diesel, gasoline by Rs 7

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Thursday issued a notification that reduced diesel and gasoline prices of Rs 7 per liter, following a similar reduction of Rs 10 and Rs 5 by the center.
The state government in the release claims that Karnataka is the first country to reduce sales tax on gasoline and diesel.
With this, diesel prices were reduced from Rs 104.50 on November 3 to RS 85.03, which was a reduction in Rs 19.47.
The price of gasoline was reduced from Rs 113.93 on November 3 to Rs 100.63, which was a reduction in RS 13.30, the release said.
Part of Karnataka’s sales tax on gasoline is reduced from 35 to 25.9 percent and diesel has been reduced from 24 to 14.34 percent, based on current notification, he added.
Bend under pressure, the central government on Wednesday has cut customs for gasoline and diesel of Rs 5 and Rs 10 per liter to help reduce tariffs from their highest level, after the state government also announced his decision to reduce.
Previously on that day, talking to reporters in Hubballi, Chairman of the Minister of Bukavaraj Bommai said the state government had contemplated reducing prices since the fuel price across the RS 100 sign, and it could cause estimated losses of Rs 2,100 Crore to the state.
“After the central government’s decision to reduce fuel prices, I spoke with the Finance Union and Home Minister and they expressed the desire that the state cut prices.
I spoke with our senior official and decided,” he added.
