K’taka sends the number of highest 2nd highest insurance claims

Bengaluru: Data from the Ministry of Health and family welfare shows the central government receives a total of 1,194 applications from the family of health workers who die from Covid-19 infection seeking the benefits of life insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Kalyeb Yojana.
The highest number of claims – 182 – comes from Maharashtra, followed by Karnataka (129).
Of the 129 covid-19 martyrs from Karnataka, the 71 family has received the amount of insurance of Rs 50 Lakh each.
The ministry said 11 claims were being processed, but there was no clarity in the fate of the remaining 47 claims.
This scheme provides a comprehensive personal accident of RS 50 Lakh for health care providers, including public health workers and private health workers designed by the government for Covid-19-related responsibilities, which may have to be directly related to Covid-19 patients and that might be at risk affected by caring for these patients.
When contacted, the Ministry of Health and the Welfare of the State Family also did not know how many applications from Karnataka were rejected.
However, Dr.
Om Prakash Patil, the Health Commissioner, said the number of claims passed by the state government to the center might not reflect the actual number of health workers who surrendered to the virus.
“There are several required insurance company documents and insurance companies can reject claims that lack or all supporting papers.
Those who are approved by the government have benefited insurance,” said Dr.
Patil.
Of the 182 claims from Maharashtra, 144 was approved.
Although Karnataka has the highest number of claims the second delivered, in terms of approved claims, Rajasthan is second after Maharashtra with 90 of the 100 submitted claims cleaned.
Andhra Pradesh also got more claims to be cleaned than Karnataka: 78 of 96.
However, according to the Indian Medical Association, more than 90 doctors allopathic died of Covid in Karnataka since the pandemic.
