Bengaluru: The government is likely to enable the installation of Ganesha idol and festival celebration in public places, heed the pressure from several ruling parties and pro-hindutva groups.
The government on Monday asked the deputy commissioner and district police supervisor where the festival was celebrated in a big way to hold a meeting with the committee and limestone plan.
The Sarvajanik Ganesh festival is celebrated in a great way in the Great District of North Carnataka, including Dharwad and Batawayavi.
“The decision was taken after the government received a petition from various organizations and BJP officials to allow the celebration.
But the Chairman of the Minister of Bumavaraj Bommai will hold another meeting with experts and receive the final telephone on September 5,” said an official issued last week, the government prohibited the installation Idol Ganesha in public places and festival celebrations in a big way because of the fear of the third wave of Covid-19 crashing into the country.
But the decision was opposed by many BJP groups and several pro-hindutva groups.
Vijayapura Mla Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has threatened to cancel the restriction of Covid and proceed with the Sarvajanic Festival in his home district.
This places the Bommai government under pressure and is likely to allow idols in these places.
