KTPS Fly-ash on the Kanhan River Hits Air Supplyto Half of Nagpur

Nagpur: The Khaperkheda power plant has once again caught the use of water flies laden from Abu Bund to the Kanhan river which affects the water supply to the city.
The problem was revealed on Saturday when several locals pay attention to cloudy water on the river.
“Since Saturday morning, Air Kanhan has turned white.
When residents tried to find out the reason, while patrolling upstream, they saw the flow of ash flowing out of the ash pool from the Khaperkheda thermal power plant (KTPS) into the drain wareha,” said the residents, who wants not to be identified.
They also shared the photos of Nullah containing water filled with ashes flowing into the Kanhan River.
TOI has beans and videos distributed by locals.
It was confirmed by sources in power plants which were due to technical barriers, the ashes of the pond were accidentally released into the citizens’ sewers, which flowed to the Kanhan River.
Because the Kanhan Water Treatment Plant (WTP) cannot treat water loaded ashes on the river, the pump located on the right edge stops functioning.
Because this, WTP is operated only at a capacity of 50% from Saturday afternoon until late at night.
Unexpected disorders in the Kanhan pump cause less and low pressure water supply in the command area connected to Kanhan Feeder Main.
The NMC water work department also confirmed that the water supply became 28 high storage reservoirs in four zones – Ashi Nagar, Lakadganj, Satranjipura and Nehru Nagar – disturbed.
During handling regular ash, the plant team became tofu about the discharge of vaginal discharge flowing towards the Kamptee Road bridge and observed that the ash filter on the NULLAH in a truly collapsed condition, the KTPS made the steps for repairs to the war footing, said Head of KTPS KTPS Engineer Ghuge .
He also said that in a few days New Nandgaon Ash Bund will be made operational to reduce the burden on the Waregaon Bund.
In the past too, KTPS had been in the news to issue polluted water in Kanhan.
Activists Anil Wadpalliwar and Pratap Goswami’s AAP leader have exposed a similar incident in the past and TOI has highlighted this.
Environmental and Founder Activists – Director of the Sustainable Development Center Leena Buddhe said this was a violation of the norms by KTPS and all with the cost of the lives and livelihoods of the people.
“The health of all living things is compromised.
Tight action needs to be taken by the Maharashtra and Moefcc pollution control board,” he said and showed that this needed to be stopped or we were all destroyed.
Kanhan River is the main source of drinking water for Nagpur and also to all villages around power plants.
