Rajkot: The 21st World Congress Psychiatry (WCP) organized by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) includes Yoga Kundalini and Shiva Catharsis meditation in discussions for alternative medicine methods to cure mental health problems.
On Monday, Kutch-based doctor, Devjyoti Sharma, gave a virtual presentation on the use of psychotherapy in treating mental illness in the WCP held from October 18 to 21.
Previously, even in the 20th version of the WCP, which was held in March (delayed by Covid) Yoga psychotherapy was discussed at length.
The global association, WPA has 145 psychiatric communities from 121 countries consisting of 2.5 lakh psychiatrists associated with it.
While presenting his yoga theory, Dr.
Sharma explained that people involving themselves in the Sibling Selator Shiv releases emotions, anger and aggression and after relaxation, they can visualize the consequences of anger through meditation.
The therapist sprayed the doctor to encourage patients to psychodrama by playing the role of God Shiva and releasing their emotions by beating drums and dancing.
“It reduces anger, aggression, and frustration by removing emotions and modifying dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors into meaningful functional thoughts,” Dr Sharma said.
Presenting Yoga Kundalini, where a person meditates on seven centers or chakra, as an alternative treatment for mental illness, Dr.
Sharma said: “Certain body parts contain certain psychic centers, where consciousness is developed through meditation to remove the blockage of psychic centers and Removing energy for healing.
“Dr.
Sharma compared American psychologists who were famous from the theory of Hierarchy Needs Abraham Maslow with Chakra Meditation Yoga Kundalini.
He further said that after meditation in seven psychic centers, the person would realize the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat one by one which would lead him to change his weakness into strength.
