The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over investigations in these three cases, while one case is by Gujarat ATS.
Gujarat ATS recently learned that Sumra was also involved in “Narco-Terrorism” when he gave money, obtained through illegal drug trafficking, to those involved in terror activities.
He was in the run and had been hiding in various Gulf and African countries since his name appeared when ATS confiscated 5kg of Pakistani Heroin in Salaya Town in Devbhoomi District Devela Gujarat in August 2018.
The investigation later revealed that Sumra and another accused of smuggling a total of 530kg of valuable heroin More than the RS 2,300 crore from Pakistan by sea and lowered the consignment at Mandvi Beach in Gujarat in August 2018.
Then, Sumra and his aides sent contraband goods in the truck, the officer said.
They sent 300kg in three trips to Punjab at the order of Simranjit Singh Sandhu, who was recently held by Interpol in Italy.
After some time, Sumra colleagues transported 200kg heroin to Sandhu’s contact in Amritsar in Punjab, he said.
From this consignment, Punjab STF seized 188kg and 5kg in separate operations, ATS said, adding that Nia now conducted investigations in these cases, and Sumra also wanted to be in connection with this.
In April this year, ATS and Indian coastal guards intercepted a boat near Gujarat Beach and arrested eight Pakistani citizens with 30kg Heroin, worth around Rs 150 Crore.
Then it was revealed that the defendant planned to smuggle the drug to Gujarat at Sumra’s order, said the ATS officer.
