Kyrgios slammed Djokovic treatment, Australia must be ‘better’

Melbourne: Novak Djokovic has received support from one of the fierce critics with Nick Kyrgios criticizing the number one world’s way has been treated in Australia and said the authorities had to do better for “one of our great champions”.
Djokovic, who has won a record of nine Australian open titles, was detained at Melbourne airport on Wednesday night and visa entry, supported by medical liberation from state vaccination requirements, revoked.
Federal border officers at the airport said Djokovic could not justify the reasons for his release.
Chasing the record of the 21st Grand Slam men, Djokovic hid in immigration detention when his lawyer fought to secure his release to play in the Australian Open and was released from strict Covid-19 vaccination requirements.
Kyrgios, who labeled Djokovic a “tool” after Serbia tried to improve the condition of quarantine for the players ahead of the Grand Slam last year, said the situation had been handled badly.
“Listen, I definitely believe it will take action, I’m vaccinated because of other people and for my mother’s health, but how we handle Novak’s situation is bad, very bad,” Tweeted Kyrgios.

Do it better.
“American player John Isner said Djokovic had followed all the rules and did not deserve to be treated like this.
“What is happening Novak is now not true,” Isner said on Twitter.
“There is no justification for the care he received …
It’s embarrassing.” What Novak did at this time was not true.
There is no justification for the treatment he received.

Open Champion Marin Cilic hopes the situation will be quickly resolved and that the entire episode is not good for sports.
“Surely it’s not a good picture for tennis,” Cilic told reporters in Adelaide on Friday.
The Association of Professional Tennis Players (PTPA), the body of the player who separated himself launched by Djokovic in 2020, said in a statement that they were closely related to him.
“Djokovic has verified our welfare,” PTPA said in a statement.
“He also requested that we let it personally share the facts from his detention with his own words, and in his own time.” Djokovic consistently refused to reveal the status of his vaccination while openly criticizing the mandatory vaccine.
Rafa Nadal, who was also in the 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne Park, was among those who showed Serbia who knew for months he had the potential to face a problem if he arrived without being vaccinated against Covid-19.
Tennis Germany Great Boris Becker, who trained Djokovic to six majors, urged him to get vaccination.
“As a former coach, I am very close to Novak Djokovic that I almost wish him as a family – but as in all your family sometimes has disagreement,” Becker wrote in the daily letter column.
“And on this occasion I thought he made a big mistake in not vaccinated.
It was one that threatened the rest of his career and his chance to cement himself as the greatest player of all time.” However, Becker, not sure whether Djokovic will change his mind.
“The same amazing determination that I saw won so that many lid matches could be a stubborn vulnerability,” Becker added.
“Will Novak take that step? I’m not sure that he will do it.” He is very strong, with very firm beliefs.
If he doesn’t, then in 10 years he will look back and realize that he made a mistake.
