Letter: Larsen & Tubro on Saturday to mark a 700 megawat heavy water reactor designed with the second tip shield for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).
This will be established at Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyajana (GHAVP) in Fatehabad District Haryana.
The final shield forms an important part of PHWR which prevents direct radiation fields from the reactor core area.
Making tip shields (9 meters diameter weighing 140 metric) involves critical machining, bi-crossing welding with strict distortion control technology.
The flag ceremony which took place in the Hazira L & T Manufacturing Complex, was attended by high-ranking officials from NPCIL and L & T.
