Kolkata: Residents who suffer from one of the worst puddles in a decade can better have Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) takes a regular desility of the gutter line needed to clean the blocked bandage channel.
Officials of Sewerage Service and KMC drainage conceded a large draw that began in 2015 and continued until 2019 stopped last year due to a pandemic.
In fact, the desilting scheme has extracted 8.5 lakh tons of mud from all cities in five years (2015 to 2019).
“From 2010 to 2014, the KMC only extracted 1.8 lakh tons of mud.

KMC officials expressed concern over a very clogged canal that bear the burden of storm water.
“We have a 134 km long canal network that is being shared with KMC and city-side cities and corporations such as BMC, Dum Dum Selatan and Rajpur-sonarpur, among others, so rain becomes heavy and uniform, canals fail to bear Load, “said Civic officials.
