Lack of Chip: Maruti reported 8% DISP in production in August

New Delhi: The largest car maker in the country Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said the total production in August declined by 8 percent at annual to 1,13,937 units due to the lack of semiconductors influence the manufacturer’s schedule.
The company has produced a total of 1,23,769 units in the period last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in the submission of regulations.
“The company’s production volume in August 2021 was affected due to lack of electronic components,” said the car.
Semiconductors are silicon chips that serve control and memory functions in products ranging from cars, computers and cellphones to various other electronic items.
The use of semiconductors in the automotive industry has risen globally in several times with new models that come with more electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and drivers, navigation, and hybrid-electric systems.
MSI said the total production of passenger vehicles reached 1,11,368 units last month, due to 1.21,381 units in August 2020.
Mini car production consisting of the Alto and S-Presso model reached 20,332 units last month a year ago.
Similarly, the manufacture of compact cars, consisting of Wagonr, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire, fell to 47,640 units from 67,348 previous units, MSI said.
Utility vehicle production – Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and XL6 – but increased to 29,965 units last month from 21,737 units in the appropriate month of 2020.
The company also reported an increase in Van Eeco production at 10,430 units last month compared to 8,898 Units in August 2020.
MSI said Super Cup Super Cup Commercial Production stood at 2,569 units last month, such as opposing 2,388 units in the month of last year.
MSI has reported a 58 percent increase in total production in July based this year to 1,70,719 units.
On August 31, Major Auto has announced that they expect total vehicle production in September in all factories in Haryana and Gujarat to only 40 percent of normal output due to semiconductor deficiencies.
The company’s production capacity in Gurgaon and Manbar in Haryana is around 15 lakh units per year.
In addition, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a 100 percent subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Motor Corporation, has an additional installed production capacity of 7.5 lakh units per year.
SMG, which supplies cars exclusively to MSI, has announced that it will increase production activities in August at a manufacturing plant based in Ahmedabad because of the lack of semiconductors.
The company has also decided to reduce production to a single shift on several manufacturing lines at the factory.
All units produced at SMG are supplied to MSI.
