Berlin: Head of Truck Daimler Martin Daum expects a shortage of global chips to achieve income with several billion euros this year and seeing problems continuing to next year, AutomobilWoche reported on Sundays.
The largest commercial vehicle maker in the world, to be separated from Daimler on December 10, has described the size of cost cutting costs aimed at increasing profit margins because they struggle with a lack of chips that hurt all sectors.
Daum said there would be a significant financial hit.
“This is a very large amount,” Daum told Automobilwoche, said the company would sell “Five digit figures” fewer vehicles that could have.
With an average price of 100,000 euros ($ 113,170) per vehicle, this means several billion euros in lost income, report AutomobilWoche.
“We also have many vehicles sitting in the factory where only one part is missing.
This shipping is priority because they have been sold,” said Daum.
He also told Automobilwoche that supply problems tended to continue in 2022.
