Bhubaneswar: Authority at AIIMS Bhubaneswar said they were looking for complaints that the kit used to test the hepatitis C virus was not available at the facility and that people had to do the outdoor test.
This is a blood test used if someone has been infected with hepatitis C.
Virus can cause serious health problems, including liver damage, cirrhosis, liver cancer and even death.
This is an important test for patients suffering from yellow diseases and liver-related diseases.
Many microbiology diagnostic services have been stopped at the hospital.
“The HCV test is not a big thing for hospitals like AIIMS.
The government must appoint a regular director and resolve the problem,” said a doctor of the institute.
There is a shortage of kits for a complete blood test (CBC) too.
CBC tests, including HB, TLC, DLC, platelet counts are not available starting January 12 due to lack of reagents.
Therefore, increasing online demand for CBC tests is blocked for several days.
But hospital administration starts testing from Friday and so on.
“It is very unfortunate that basic investigations are not available for patient care in hospitals.
Even some departments do not have gloves for staff.
Basic stationery such as paper and printer cartridges are not supplied to us,” Another doctor said.
Bhubaneswar Medical Supervisory Sachidananda Mohanty said They have started doing CBC tests from Friday.
“We take the steps needed to continue the HCV test as soon as possible,” he added.
