Chennai: The vaccine stock approaches zero in several districts in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night.

“It is an irony that when people spill doubts and queuing for vaccines, we don’t have it,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian, who will meet the Union Minister Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi on Friday.

So far, 1.57 crore doses have been allocated to the country.
On Monday night, the state had used 1.58 doses of crore, the Minister said.
On Tuesday, this was revised to 1.59 doses of crore.
The state has 6.06 crore people over the age of 18, which requires 12.12 doses of crore vaccines.
While more than 21% of the eligible population has taken at least one dose, only 5% of the population throughout the country fully vaccinated.
In February, Tamil Nadu was accused of wasting up to four doses of lakh vaccines.
“This waste occurred in the AIDMK regime.
Now, two things have changed the situation.
More people come to vaccinations now.
Secondly, vaccinators are now more careful about waste,” said Minister of Health.
“Previously they would open a bottle even if there were four people and almost six doses would be wasted.
