Lakhs sang tonekeethe, vowed to preserve Kannada’s culture

Bengaluru: tonekeethe, Anthem Country and three other Kannada songs rented air when 16 lakh people made them simultaneously in thousands of places throughout Karnataka on Thursday morning with a unique initiative, called Kannakkagi Navu.
This initiative is organized by the state government.
More than 1,000 people including musicians and singers gathered at the location of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to sing the state of the national anthem followed by lineu Kannada Dindimava, written by Jnanpith Laureate Kuvempu, Jogada Siri, by Poet (late) Nissar Ahmed, and Huttidare.
Kannada Naadalli Huttabeku, written by the lyrics of Hamsalekha’s lyrics.
The main program began at 11am and ended at 11:30 a.m.
The singer and musician are also Hachchevu Kannadada Deepa, written by Karki DS, Vishva Vinuthana Vidya Chethana, written by Chennavavea Kanavi and other Kannada songs to Noon.
Among the participants at Vidhana Soudha is Minister of Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar, Head of Secretary of P Ravi Kumar, Secretary of the Majunath Prasad Minister, IAS, IPS, IFS and cash officers and employees of Vidhana Soudha.
“A total of 16 lakh people sing toneghe and three songs in all states in the program organized by the government,” said Kannada Director and the Ministry of Culture S Rangappa.
According to official data, this event was held at 628 centers in 31 countries.
The program also saw participants taking an oath that they would use Kannada in their daily activities, teaching the language to non-kannadigas and committed to work to conserve the land of Kannada, language, culture and inheritance.
Chairman of the Border Development Authority Karnataka C Somashekar told TII, “This is a unique program that creates awareness among people about their language and culture and helps build a harmonious society even with people who do not speak non-Kannada.” Krishnamurthy’s veteran vocalist told Tii, “This is a very unique program that will help create unity among Karnataka people, regardless of their territory and religion.” Krishnamurthy has trained officers and employees of Vidhana Soudha for the past week for the event.
Ravindra Kalashetra and Jnanajyoti Auditorium are among several places that see the song Renditions.
In Tumakuru, more than 8,000 students and teachers Siddagaga Mutt participated in the Kannakkagi Navu program.
In the Chikkaballater district, Deputy Commissioner R Latha gave an oath to hundreds of students, officers and activists of pro-Kannada organizations to speak and use Kannada in their daily lives at an event held at the Temple of Bhooga Nandihwara at the foot.
