Gurgaon: About 60 shanties constructed illegally on Aravali land allowed to an urban forests from the city were supplied from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Friday.
The contaminated land is part of a 200-acre region in Chakkarpur and Sikanderpur supporting the masonry marketplace around MG Road.
At a combined operation, a group of GMDA along with MCG officials under the oversight of GMDA director (urban environment) Devender Rao stirred the prohibited shanties.
Rao stated the property was allowed for urban woods but shanties were assembled with squatters in an attempt to encroach the property.
Divisional forest officer and mind of GMDA’s urban surroundings branch, Subhash Yadav, said countless illegal shanties have been taken out of the property in many demolition drives this past year.
MCG had started fencing of their property to stop potential encroachment, however during the lockdown, the shanties came again, ” he explained.
Yadav further explained the property belongs to MCG however has been passed over to GMDA to the growth of urban woods after the principal minister accepted the undertaking.
Three agencies have expressed interest in creating the urban woods with CSR funding, ” he added.
Meanwhile, the citizens’ groups said the government must initiate activity in the time once the shanties have been constructed, not after they’ve encroached on the property.
“If those shanties are coming on forest territory over and over, the human body officials worried ought to be contested,” stated a DLF-1 resident.
