Landslides disturb traffic as heavy rain Uttarakhand

Dehradun / Mussoorie: Heavy rains attacked Uttarakhand in the last 24 hours, causing the roundabout in several regions and landslides in Mussoorie.
In Uttarkashi, Jalan Raya Gangotri and Yamunotri were blocked.
The regional met center has issued an orange warning and predicted that rain will continue in the state for at least one more week.
Haldwani in the Nainital District received a maximum of 150mm rainfall until Tuesday morning, followed by Hill Town Mussoorie, which recorded a 100mm shower, Chakrata received 80mm rain, Barkot 70mm, Dhanaulti 50mm and 30mm pithoragarh.
The rain at Mussoorie began on Saturday and a repeat landslide on Jalan Mussoorie-Dehradun began the next day, pulling the tree and caused a road barrier.
However, PWD managed to keep debris to restore traffic.
On Tuesday, a landslide near Indira Bhawan, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBsnaa), blocked the road to campus.
Another landslide was reported in residential areas in Hussainganj, posing the risk of the nearest building.
“We have mobilized several JCBs to clean the road so that the traffic flow remains smooth,” said a PWD official.
In Uttarkashi, Jalan Raya Gangotri was blocked in the morning because landslides and Yamunotri highways were blocked in the Paligad area.
This opened later.
In addition, more than two dozen district rural roads were blocked by landslides, deciding several villages from the district headquarters.
Electricity supply is disrupted in five villages in the Mori area.
Devendra Patwal, District Disaster Management Officer, said, “Most of the roads, including Gangotri and Yamunotri highways, are now open to traffic movements.”
