New Delhi: Sri Lanka has convinced India that it will create a “conducive environment” for Indian investment in a number of important fields including ports, infrastructure, energy, renewable energy, energy and manufacturing.
Guarantee came during a virtual meeting of Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday with Lanka Finance Minister Rajapaksa who took part in the last visit to India last month.
Jaisankar said India would continue to support Sri Lanka by all means to overcome economic and other challenges caused by Covid-19 pandemics.
The two ministers positively recorded an extension of $ 400 million to Sri Lanka under the SAARC currency swap settings and reviewed progress in expanding Indian credit facilities for $ 1 billion to import food, important items and $ 500 million to import fuel from India .
Jaisankar raised the problem of Indian fishermen who were detained in Sri Lanka and urged him to ensure their initial release.
