Kolkata: The Bengali government has stated a half-day vacation in all his offices from the second half of Monday, as a sign of respect for Mangeshkar Lata.
The state government said that people would be allowed to pay their last respect in front of the portrait of the legendary singer between 10am and 17:00 at Rabindra Sadan.
For the next 15 days, the song will be screened in all public places, government installations, and traffic lights.
Bengal owed to Mangeshkar, cm Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday, given the gold pendant with the image of Goddess times he had received from the icon after he became the first minister in 2011, who was still a treasure.
“Like all his fans, I was fascinated by his voice and his rendering, and felt grateful that he held Bengal and the artists next to his heart,” Banerjee said.
“I paid sincere tribute to Indian icons that had departed, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar,” added CM.
“I expressed my deepest sadness on the death of geniuses that the Bulbul bird really.” The Bengali government has given the ‘Banga Bibhushan’ award in the singer in 2016, and Banerjee remembered how happy he was to accept it.
“He has a big contribution to Bengali music, and the song will always stay close to the heart of Bengalal,” CM said.
