Parliament Latvia voted on Friday to ban members from rejecting the Covid-19 vaccine from voting in the legislature and participating in the discussion.
Latvia, who has one of the lowest level of vaccination in the European Union, is the first in blocks to connect this autumn key as a surge in Covid-19 case threatening to flood its health system.
Restrictions on lawmakers who reject vaccines, which include their salary docking, are supported by 62 of 100 members of their parliament, and will take place from Monday to mid 2022.
The country television reported that nine parliamentarians had rejected the vaccine.
Prohibition of parliamentarians who were not vaccinated in parliament were needed to promote public trust in government policies to control Covid-19 infections, legislative sponsors, Janis Rancans parliamentarians, quoted as said by parliamentary press services.
Latvia, home to 1.9 million people, has reported 236,765 infections and 3.646 deaths related to Coronavirus since the pandemic began.
