Nainital: The days after the Uttarakhand High Court stayed at Char Dham Yatra and asked the ritual to pass, the court on Wednesday took the exception by submitting the public advocate (AG) that “Shastras might not allow livestreaming from rituals”.
For this, the court replied: “India is a democratic country ruled by law, not by Shastras.” Chairman of the Chief Judge of Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma asked Ag SN Babulkar not to enter religious arguments because they did not have legal support.
“If there is a bar in IT law, please show the provisions of the action that says there is no livestreaming that can be permitted from the temple,” said Chairman of Justice.
Ag has submitted that the decision to enable Livestreaming will be taken by the Devasthanam Board – which manages the temples in the state – but added that according to some Hindu Imam Shastras did not allow Livestreaming rituals.
The court reacted sharply and said: “Shastras does not control this country, what controls this country and guiding us for our future is the constitution of India and that’s where we stop.
