Lawyers in the trial of the Vatican abuse say there is no evidence of error

Rome: Lawyers for the former altar boy who were accused of sexually abusing a young boy in the Vatican youth seminary asked the Vatican court to free his client Friday, saying there was no evidence of violations and that “this trial should occur.” In the argument of the cover, lawyer Rita Claudia Baffoni said the age of seven months between the alleged victims and aggressors, aged 13 and 14 years at the beginning of alleged abuse, made allegations of authority abuse against Rev Gabriele Martinelli was not credible.
The trial has placed the spotlight at the St Pius X Seminary, located inside the Vatican Park, which accommodated a 12-17-year-old boy who served as an altar boy in the Papal Basilica in the Basilica of St Peter.
The scandal erupted in 2017 when the former Altar GO Public son on charges of violations against Martinelli and closure by the Seminary Tops, a Vatican Cardinal and Archdiocese Como, who was responsible for this seminary.
Pope Francis let go of the limitations law to let the trial continued, and recently ordered a seminary to move from the Vatican City while letting his students continue to serve in St.
Peter.
President of the court, Giuseppe Pignatone, said the verdict against Martinelli and the former seminary chancellor, Don Enrico Radiance, will be returned 6.
Martinelli was accused of abusing his authority as a more senior seminarian to force younger seminarians, identified as LG, into “worldly actions’ from sodomy and masturbation, using violence and threats, from 2007 to 2012.
The radiance was accused of covering evil after LG complained.
The prosecutor demanded a six-year prison sentence and sentence for Martinelli, and a four-year sentence for Radice, whose lawyer on Thursday asked the court to free His client, saying there was no evidence that Radice knew about all abuse.
In the closing argument, Baffoni noted that Francis’s decree removes the limited law based on the abuse claims of underage adults.
But Baffoni said there was no evidence of temporary harassment Martinelli was Ora Mature and LG are minors.
“This trial should never happen,” he said.
He said the victim’s testimony that he suffered harassment for years not credible, or his argument that he did not mind because Martinelli promised to let him serve in papal masses.
He noted that only one The former seminarian testified that he witnessed Martinelli’s behavior, but without providing evidence.
“We talked about the first 10 years of the 2000s, with children who have cellphones, making videos, who are not so fragile so that they receive the masses they receive are misused three Next week for six years, “he said.” Objectively, it’s hard to believe.
