Laxmikant’s parskar decision to throw his hat into the ring as an independent candidate for Eletions has changed political equations in Mandrem.
What looks like a straight battle between BJP and MGP has now become a triangle.
Sitting BJP Legislators and their candidates are now Dairand Sopte, MGP JIT Arolkar candidates and Parsekar as Mandiri all jostling for chairs.
“Anger has brewed against Sopte for the past three years, while anger towards the parsekar (which caused his defeat to 2017) had subsided.
JIT is being seen as a new and young face for constituencies,” said a political observer.
Most of the constituencies believe that the fight will be close to the margin of victory less than a thousand voices, may be decided by silent voters.
If the parsekar manages to win, it will be the first for independent candidates in Mandrem.
It will also be a big shame for BJP when the party denies the ticket, stating that veteran politicians are not in a position to win from here, according to the results of the internal survey.
After the parsekar became the main minister in 2014, when MANOHAR PARRIRAR increased to the position of Defense Minister in the Union Cabinet, he focused more on the administration which caused him to lose constituents.
“Parskar has now begun to realize that it is connected with the most important people.
He has begun to approach people seeking their support,” said a resident of Arambol.
Mandrem residents said Sopte’s belief had been high sky since he defeated the parsekar with a margin of more than 7,000 votes in 2017.
Even in the election as a BJP candidate, he won with a margin of 4,000 votes.
“His pride has now forced people to stay away from him.
Parsekar has taken this opportunity to revive his political career,” the residents said.
After the parsekar was rejected by a ticket by BJP, the supporters who were nervous forcing him to compete as independent candidates.
Immediately, he left the party after with respect to 32 years.
For the first time, Congress, who has won a two-time constituency, including in 2017, has left the seat to the Goa Alliance partner in the future.
Former Panchayat Member BJP Zilla Deepak Kalangutar is now a alliance candidate.
“In addition to the sound of the congress, there are more than 4,500 minority voters in constituencies.
It would be interesting to see who was supported by voters as Congress did not have candidates,” said a political observer.
A minority voter from Morjim said with the parsekar breaking into the relationship with BJP, he could now be an option.
“Parsekar is a respectable person in the electoral district, but we are reluctant to choose him because he belongs to BJP.
We can now think of it as an option,” he said.
Arolkar, too, has enough good intentions in constituencies.
“At the time of Covid’s pandemic, JIT reaches people.
Without being part of the government, he has gone out of the way to do the personal work of people,” said a resident of Arambol.
“As long as every election, there is a polarization between the Maratha and Bhandari community.
But this time, the intensity has increased to most,” said a political observer, added that the parsekar was a strong candidate from the Maratha community.
The role of the former Ramakant Legislator and Sangeeta Puriab, both with a good voter base in Mandrem, are also underestimated with sharp interests.
After joining BJP, Sopte was rewarded with the Chairman of the Corporation of Goa Tourism Development (GTDC), which helped him take a development project more than Rs 500 Crore on coastal constituencies.
Is that enough to see.
