VARANATION: Lal Bahadur International Airport Shastri International Varanasi will soon have a sophisticated primary and secondary radar system.
FLT Airport Director Lt Akash Deep said that the process of completing the LBSI airport with a primary and secondary secondary radar system worth around RS 25Crore has begun with the construction of the building with a budget of Rs 4.66 Crore.
This project will be completed in a year after the airspace will be very fortified, he added.
Airport officials said that currently LBSI airport is equipped with a secondary radar system as an airport surveillance radar (ASR), which includes 250 marine miles.
Apart from the advanced version of the Airport Secondary Radar System will also be equipped with a primary radar system that usually controls traffic within 60 radiuses of airports under 25,000 high altitudes, adding officials.
The arrival of a sophisticated primary radar system, which is installed at large airports, will not only detect and display the presence and position of the aircraft in the terminal area but will also help in detecting even small objects such as drones, small airplanes and helicopters in the air around the airport, said officials added that it would also provide weather and cloud information.
The airport director said that the construction of a new building began after doing ‘Bhoomipujan’ on July 26.
Construction work tends to be completed in a year after the radar system will be installed.
