BeIRUT: Lebanese soldiers have mobilized troops to the northern region where two men have been killed this week in violence between the rival clan that rotates out of logging disputes, the security source said on Thursday.
Heavy weapons and grenades driven by rockets were used during battle in the dominant Muslim regions among people from Akkar Al-Atiqa and Fnaidek villages on Wednesday, the source said.
The situation is quiet on Thursday.
The rival group has a history of disputes.
Violence adds to the worries of insecurity in Lebanon, where the financial crisis causes the deepening of chaos.
Although the incident was not directly associated with the financial crisis, it showed that “the country lost its position”, the security source said.
In a statement on Wednesday night, Sunni politician Saad Al-Hariri said bloodshed had to stop and urged the termination of “use of weapons as a means of dialogue between brothers”.
There was a daily security incident in Lebanon lately involving fuel because the financial crisis had raised crippling, triggering riots and confrontation on gasoline and diesel.
The fuel tank truck has also been hijacked.
