Beirut: The Social Minister Lebanon Guard on Thursday announced the launch of the cash card for more than 500,000 families, the planned step to limit the $ 6 billion subsidy program that has a lot of foreign exchange reserves.
The Lebanese financial crisis has been explained by the World Bank as one of the deepest depression of modern history.
The United Nations and Social and Social Commission for West Asia (Escwa) estimates that the crisis has so far pushed 78% of the population into poverty.
“It is true that extraordinary items have been allocated in the budget for this, but we also strive to get funding from the infrastructure targeting World Bank loans and workers and also from the rights of the IMF special image known as SDR,” Minister Ramzi Mouceafieh said .
The government introduces financing of basic goods import subsidies such as wheat, fuel and medicine last year.
The critics say it’s bloated, managed badly, and is wasteful, and is now removed.
Moucharafieh said the cash card, which will provide every family of recipients around $ 93 a month, designed to reach those in need and prevent waste, parliament approved cash payments, estimated to cost around $ 556 million, in June.
