Pune: After cleaning Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) staff raised suspicion about the presence of leopards in the Katraj Ghat forest environment, the surrounding vigil is increasing and the warning board is likely to be displayed by the authorities.
The staff involved in the daily cleaning of the road raises concerns about the possibility of leopard who looks, and has approached the forestry department to conduct an examination.
Forest officials said they added a watch in vulnerable places and reached local residents with attraction to stay more careful.
PMC cleaning staff was also asked not to take an undue risk.
PMC Prashant Nigade cleaning supervisor said, “Our staff worked in shifts from the early hours of the morning throughout the Ghat.
In addition to cleaning the road everyday, the team was also involved in actions against littering and impressively fine Leopard or animals such as leopards in the forest along the Ghat section.
Therefore, we have approached the Forestry Department to start further steps.
“Katraj Ghat is a hilly part located in the south of the city.
It connects Pune to the Kolhapur highway.
The authorities from PMC said they had asked the staff and the closest residents to remain vigilant.
“We will work in coordination with forest officials to see if there are boards that can be displayed in the GHAT part to warn tourists and citizens, and prevent panic,” said a citizenship official, choosing to remain unnamed.
An official from the Forestry Department added, “We will monitor the area for the next few days.
Our team will visit suspected places and lines.
Further steps will be planned based on observations.
Our team will come into constant with local residents to get updates In the animal movement.
Until now, there was no immediate plan to install any cage.
