Hyderabad: Two calves were killed by leopards in Mangampet Village in Jinnaram Mandal from the Sangareddy District on Wednesday night.
Leopard attacked livestock in the warehouse located on the edge of the forest, killing two calves and took one carcass, said forest officials.
“We were told about the incident by local farmers who were watching in the morning that one of the Betis was gone.
When the farmers went to find a missing calf to see the leopard,” said V Venkateshwar Rao, district forest officials, Sangareddy.
Forest officials who monitor the leopard movement have ensured compensation for farmers for the loss.
The farmers, however, demanded that officials arrange a trap cage to capture leopards to avoid more incidents such as in the future.
In a similar incident last month, a calf was killed in the village of Kadpal Sangareddy District.
Forest officials who examined the area identified a sign of leopard pugs at the location.
Farmers from Nagadhara, Krishnapur in Kalher Mandal Village and Khajapur at the Sirgapur Mandal also reported seeing leopards in the area.
