Mumbai: There has been Spurt in the case of dengue fever and leptospirosis for the past two weeks.
Three wards have seen many cases of leptospirosis, while cases of dengue fever are confirmed has been reported from all cities.
WARDS E (Byculla, Mazgaon), North F (Dharavi, Matunga) and K East (Andheri, Jogeshwari East) reported most of the case of leptospirosis, BMC said.
Twenty-seven cases of leptospirosis were reported in the last 15 days.
In July, there has been one death because of bacterial diseases that can be contracted by someone by navigating dirty water.
Officials said the cases were most likely contained because of the distribution of almost 1.40 capsules of lakh doxycycline.
BMC conducted three rounds of home-to-home surveys which included 44.80 lakh houses.
Until August 15, there were 61 cases of confirmed dengue fever, the leap of 28 seen in all July.
Although the case of dengue fever is less than the incident before Covid, a viral infection born by mosquitoes is more common this year compared to 2020.
A total of 129 cases were recorded in 2020, while 138 was reported this year.
In 2019, there were 920 cases of dengue fever and the three confirmed deaths.
The City Icus sporadically treats the case of acute respiratory disorder syndrome (ARDS) arising from complications of dengue fever and leptospirosis.
Intensivist Dr Rahul Sawalia, who consulted Sevenhills Hospital, said they had treated at least seven Ards cases caused by dengue fever and leptospirosis.
Nearly 400 malaria cases have also been reported so far in August.
About 160 cases of gastroenteritis and eight cases of H1N1 influenza were detected in the first two weeks of August.
