Less leakage, accurate water bill: GMDA to use technology to monitor tanks

Gurgaon: Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) enhances the centralized integrated water management system (CIWM) to monitor and control the distribution of water from the GMDA office near the city center of Huda.
As part of the scale-up, GMDA will connect 428 underground tanks to Ciwm, in addition to 32 underground tanks connected to the system during the pilot process.
This project is expected to be valuable RS 16.69 Crore.
The pilot, which began in June last year, involved 32 tanks in a 15 km stretch from a water treatment plant (WTP) on Basai to the Dundahera Village.
GMDA has spent 1.88 crore at the pilot but officials said that it increased monitoring water supply and billing, and losing non-income water loss of only 20%.
Data for previous non-income water loss is not available.
Increasing, said GMDA official, will include the provision of electromagnetic flow meters, water control valves, level sensors, remote terminal units and power supply in each underground tank.
In addition, the system of mastery of monitoring and acknowledgment of data (SCADA) will help the Command and Control Center (ICCUc) integrated to monitor and control water content, and collect and analyze data.
With Ciwms, GMDA can ensure that water is distributed fairly among tanks from the centralized office.
Ciwms will also allow GMDA to send accurate water bills based on the exact amount of water received by each consumer.
Authority will be able to prevent water leaks from tanks, as well as access without permission to water, help reduce non-income water losses.
Finally, officials can easily turn off the connection if the bill is not paid.
Consumers, on the other hand, can also get more accurate readings about their water use.
“Gurgaon gets water from Yamuna; Air Yamuna goes to a basin water treatment plant and Buddier Chandu, where it is converted into drinking water.
Then through the pipe, it runs throughout Gurgaon.
The aim is to use technology to improve distribution, monitoring, and water control This, “said a senior GMDA official, who did not want to be named.
GMDA tanks are targeting located along various sub-city and II pipelines from GMDA.
“Tender is like a level because we have run a pilot.
Now, we only improve the project.
However, we have been looking for public opinion about the project and given two weeks for the same thing.
We hope to have feedback in November and based on it, the project will be upgraded, “said the official.
