PANAJI: CM Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that less than 1% of covid positive people need hospitalization and ICU to care in Goa.
He said that the recovery rate was 92% in the state.
Sawant said that people must take precautions such as wore masks, use sanitisers and follow the restrictions imposed by the state government.
At present there are restrictions on public meetings in the state.
“Strict implementation will be carried out by state administration,” he said.
Minister of Sawant and Health Vishwajit Rane attended a meeting held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Covid-19 situation throughout the country.
The minister’s chairman said that Modi’s message was not to “cover all economic activities” in the country.
After the meeting, Sawant told reporters that the Prime Minister reviewed the Covid situation in the country including the level of keposititivity and health infrastructure.
He said that the state must complete 100% vaccination of the population that qualified and emphasized the vaccination of groups aged 15 to 18 years.
Sawant also said that Modi urged the country to provide a dose of booster to people aged 60 years and over.
Meanwhile Rane said that having additional restrictions to load the spread of Covid-19 including “night hours for named” it does not make sense if it is not applied correctly.
When asked whether the government could apply restrictions including curfews to control the increase in Covid cases, Rane said, “Because people don’t mix too much and put it for namesake it doesn’t make sense if it’s not implemented properly.” Rane said that hotel occupancy in the state has been reduced and there is also a reduction in the number of people visiting Goa.
He said that flights came with a capacity of 50%.
“It is the responsibility of each and every individual.
People must wear masks and maintain social distance.
We have placed a limit at the meeting,” he said.
The Minister of Health said that whatever steps needed to be taken by the government already existed.
“Compared to the second covid wave, this bed residence (hospital) can almost be ignored and I feel we are on the right track,” he said.
