Letter: In the near future, along with new terminal buildings, additional taxi lines and other facilities for leaflets, the airport mail will also be supporters themselves in terms of water by using wastewater treated and purified at the airport itself.
According to airport officials, the total water requirements at the airport will be around 807 KLD, at this time.
The airport is now developing its own waste treatment plant of 210 KLD which will help place resolutions of water processed several times for various purposes other than drinking.
The airport currently requires around 301 freshwater KLD supplied by Municipal Corporation letters and no ground water extracted for this.
After the waste treatment plant becomes operational, up to 210 KLD water treatments will be available for use while SMC must supply 45 KLD.
The airport waste treatment plant is likely to operate in a few months.
This high-tech factory will recycle water and treat waste to ensure “zero-effluent discharge” next year.
It is estimated that the generation of wastewater is 488KLD, which will be treated in STP that uses Bed Biofilm Reactor technology (MBBR).
The treated water will be reused within the airport building for flushing, gardening and in the terminal building cooling system.
The proposed expansion project will be a zero-effluent release unit, a official said.
After the new terminal building work is completed, flights and passenger traffic will also increase so that it encourages water use.
Thus the water treated will be very helpful to reduce consumption of fresh water.
Sainter’s airport director Saini said, “We are trying to develop a waste treatment plant along with projects such as natural lighting and solar powered panels.
The airport letter is also a silent airport.”
