Letter poll part of the protocol. All parties will look for alternatives: Wadettiwar

Nagpur: After the State Election Commission (SEC) announced that the Bypoll of the local body will be held on October 5, the Civil Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwar said all political parties in Maharashtra would work together “to find alternatives”.
While repeating that SEC letter about the declaration of Bypolls has complied with the Supreme Court’s decision, Wadettiwar said the government remained committed to maintaining the interest of the OBC community.
Wadettiwar said, “SC decision to bind all and the SEC letter is part of the process.
At the same time, all political parties in Maharashtra unanimously state that the OBC community must get a political reservation.
Now we will all meet again and discuss what alternatives before We and then continue.
“Speaking to the previous media on the day, before the date bypoll was declared, Wadettiwar said alternatives including legal and political solutions.
“Maybe we can approach SC again and search for data from the center.
Apart from this, all political parties can ensure that they provide tickets to OBC candidates with the same proportion as the quota will provide,” Wadettiwar said.
He also said that even the pandemic situation needs to be considered.
“There is a third wave threat that will come in the last week of September or October, and this is something approved by most medical experts,” said the leader of the Senior Congress.
But what if not found a decent alternative? Wadettiwar said, “Then the Bypolls will be held according to SC direction.
And it will be an opportunity for the OBC community to see how many parties provide tickets to their candidates.
Because all parties have committed to providing OBC their rights, such situations will Ideal for field candidates from the community.
“Already two sessions of all parties regarding the OBC problem were held, where the general consensus was to postpone polls until the problem of political reservations was resolved.
Wadettiwar said the SC decision last week made them surprised.
“We don’t expect it.
Our all-party discussions are in the last phase and since the general poll (for local agencies) are scheduled for February so we think that there is time,” Wadettiwar said.
The leader of the senior Congress is known for his aggressive style slamming opposition to ‘politicize’ this problem.
“There are some people who continue to blame the government today to fall apart.
But it is the central government who does not want to share data related to OBC.
Data compilation is completed in 2015, so why isn’t anything done about it until 2019? Still I don’t want to start Games and more like everyone comes together to fight for OBC rights, “Wadettiwar said.
