Letter: Diamond City once again achieved another achievement on Wednesday after being elected by the central government among 11 cities in India for cycles of 4 changes in challenges.
The Municipal Corporation letter was awarded RS 1 Crore funds by Union Housing and Urban services under the challenge of promoting cycling as an alternative mode of urban mobility.
Officials said that 113 cities have participated in challenges, where finalists are 25 stages 1 selected.
From these cities, 11 was awarded on Wednesday.
As part of a challenge, SMC has created a core working group consisting of citizenship officials, professors of technical institutions, leading architects, Mayor Mayor and Bycs representatives, Amsterdam-based social companies that promote bicycles in cities.
“Different awareness programs are carried out and feedback taken from residents, based on which, a report is prepared and submitted for challenges,” said an official.
“The letter already has a public bicycle sharing project that has gained a lot of popularity and buildup consistently increasing, especially after the pandemic,” the official added.
The current letter has a special 52km cycle line and an additional 5km path is being built.
The Civic body also plans to make a correction in the existing cycle track.
