Lexicon Editor Row: Guv Looking for Reports

Written by news2in

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has been looking for a report from Kerala University Vice-Chancellor VP Mahadevan Pillai with a complaint that the university has appointed a candidate who did not qualify as the Editor of Lexicon Malayalam, allegedly under the influence of the office of the minister chairman (CMO).
The report was sought based on complaints submitted by the education campaign committee to establish nepotism in the appointment of H Poornima, wife of R Mohanan, former IRS officer who currently works as an officer about special tasks in CMO.
It has been accused that Poornima, a Sanskrit teacher with Sanskrit University in Kalady was chosen as an editor of Leksikon Malayalam by changing the qualification norm according to certain candidates.
Meanwhile, the campaign committee, on Tuesday, petitioned by the National Police Chief, was seeking an investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy against Pillai and previously the CR Prasad registrar.
Based on a proposal by VC, the university syndicate on December 29, 2020, has decided to appoint a professor or associate professor as an editor of Leksikon Malayalam terkati.
Although university statues prescribe that only Malayalam experts can be considered for posts, university notifications issued in this case can be in the form of Malayalam or Sanskrit faculty.
According to the Save University Campaige Committee, this addition was carried out by a former registrant who also acted as one of the two experts stating Poornima as the only candidate who qualified to post.
The Committee further added that notifications are kept private so that only the choice candidates they will get post.
They also accused the university hiding the full address of Poornima and did not mention the period of deputation in the order of appointment.
