Thiruvananthapuram: Editor Lexicon Malayalam, who was just appointed at the University of Kerala had failed to complete the UGC-funded project to prepare the dictionary in Sanskrit, saving alleged University campaign committee (SID) on Saturday.
Poornima Mohan, whose appointment has triggered a fight after the question was appointed for the qualifications to carry out the tasks of Leksikon Malayalam Editor, has failed to complete the work funded by UGC in 2012, Suks Sasikumar said.
Poornima is R Mohanan’s wife, former IRS officer who works as an officer about a special task at the office of the minister’s chairman.
“Poornima Mohan is entrusted with the task of preparing a multi-cultural dictionary from the main dravidian and several indo-European languages in two years.
UGC approved Rs 7.80,000 for assignment in December 2012.
However, he failed to complete the job even after five years.
Not taking off, Sanskrit University has directed the project director – poornima Mohan – to repay money, “said the committee.
Allegedly that Kerala University appointed Poornima, a Sanskrit professor, as an editor of Malayalam Leksikon under the influence of Mohanan.
The university then defended his decision by claiming that Poornima was a multilingual scholar and in-depth knowledge in Sanskrit and many other languages would greatly help to issue their duties as a Malay Leksikon editor.
The Minister of Higher Education R Bindu also confirmed the promise of Poornima.
