Friday told the Delhi High Court that he had appointed a Head Compliance Officer (COO), a permanently resident complaint and Nodal Contact officer in accordance with the new information technology rules (IT).
The court, however, said Affidavit proposed by the microblogging platform in this case not on the note and asked for Twitter to ensure that it was brought to the note.
Judge Rekha Palli noted that a copy of written statements has been presented to other parties, including central advice advisations that will return with instructions on August 10.
Senior Advocate Sajan Poovayya, representing Twitter, said the company has appointed officials of the CCO contact person, RGGO and Nodal on August 4, complied with the new rules and also submitted a written statement to obey the previous court order.
During the trial, the court said, “So they are in adherence now?” For this additional lawyer General Chetan Sharma, representing the center, said, “It seems that but we need to verify.” The previous high court expressed displeasure on Twitter Inc.
to appoint “contingent workers” as CCO and said the microblogging platform was not in accordance with its new rules.
It should be noted that while the rules mandate the appointment of the main managerial or senior employees as CCO, Twitter has revealed in a written statement that it has appointed “contingent workers” through third party contractors.
It has directed Twitter not to not only reveal all details relating to the appointment of CCO and resident complaints officers (RGGE) but also clarified why nodal contact people have not been appointed and when that position will occur fulfilled.
Information Technology Regulation (Broker Guidelines and Digital Ethics Codes), 2021 seeks to regulate the distribution and publication of content in the cyber space, including the social media platform, and is told in February by the central government.
Lawyers Amit Acharya, represented by senior advocate G Tushar Rao, claimed that he knew about the alleged non-compliance of IT rules by Twitter when he tried to file a complaint against several tweets.
The previous court has given time to Twitter to submit a written statement to show compliance with IT rules.
The center said in a written statement that Twitter failed to comply with the new IT rules of India, which could cause disappeared immunity under the IT law.
