Rajkot: The city of Dwarka Temple has their hearts in the mouth after heavy rains accompanied by lightning beat close to the temple on Tuesday.
The veraval coastal city of Gir-Somnath district was pounded with 128 mm rainfall between 6am to 4pm at 4pm Saurashtra and Kutch received heavy rainfall with a storm.
“It was very scary.
We saw lightning so close to the temple after years,” said Hemal Vayeda, a Dwarka resident and a priest at the temple.
Some parts of the flag are also damaged.
According to the district flood control room, Mangrol from Junagadh received 75 mm, Sutrapada 58 mm while Keshod and Dwarka recorded 55 mm each.
In another incident, a cow was shocked in Patel Colony in Jamnagar after the animal accidentally swept the electricity pole.
At Kutch, Nakhatrana received 30 mm and Mundra rainfall received 26 mm rainfall.
