LE LUC: API that has destroyed the forest near the French Riviera for four days slowed when the wind and weather hot subsided, but more than 1,100 firefighters were still struggling to control them on Thursday, the local authorities said.
It is the latest from many forest fires that burn the Mediterranean region this summer.
The French Blaze has left two dead and 27 injured and forced at least 10,000 to evacuate camps, hotels and houses throughout the region.
The fire “lack of violence and its development has slowed,” said the government for the surrounding VAR region in a statement on Thursday.
Strong winds from the Mediterranean have fanned fire but are now soothing, and the temperature decreases.
“We can be optimistic,” Head of Regional Fire Service, Dominique Another, told Broadcaster France-Info.
The fire has burned 7,100 hectares (18,000 hectares) forest since starting Monday about 40 kilometers (24 miles) from the Saint-Tropez beach resort.
At Saint-Tropez Bay, a large-scale bomb plane can be seen to sway to fill their stomachs with water to be thrown across the burning rivier.
Reinforcements to give firefighters on the ground, periodic breaks come from other places around France.
This summer forest fire has left the area in Greece, Turkey, Italy, Algeria and Spain in a burning ruins.
In Greece on Thursday, hundreds of Greek and Poland firefms fought against large forests that destroyed pine forests for the fourth day of the northwest of the Greek capital.
API near Vilia Village, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Athens, has burned up to thousands of hectares and caused evacuation orders to be issued for several villages in the area.
Estimates of strong winds for the future can complicate the efforts of firefighters.
Scientists say there is little doubt that climate change from coal combustion, oil and natural gas encourage extreme events such as heat waves, droughts and forest fires.
