Lilapur locals pelted stones on the truck to Mizoram

Silchar / Aizawl: Local Population Irate in Lilapur in the Cachar District Assam attacked a number of trucks when they headed for Mizoram on Saturday afternoon.
“At least 12 trucks loaded with the essence of being attacked by locals who target them with stones when the vehicle starts for Mizoram from Assam through NH-306.
However, the police dispersed them.
No one was injured in the incident,” said a senior police officer In Lilapur Outpost.

Singhal, together with the Minister of Environment and Parimal Forest Suklabaidya, visited Lilapur along the Border of Inter-Country Assam-Mizoram on Saturday to persuade local residents to lift the economic blockade and create an atmosphere that paved the way for the recovery of peace and tranquility.
In the direction of CM Himanta Buswa Sarma, the two ministers visited the Lilapur Police Station along the border between countries and persuaded locals to allow the movement of free vehicles to be essential to Mizoram and relieve tension along the border.
Ministers, along with DC, SP and other senior cachar officials, held talks with locals and urged them to withdraw the economic blockade and to create an atmosphere, paving the way for the recovery of peace and tranquility along the border between countries.
“The safety of the locals is our responsibility and we ensure you all the support needed,” Suklabaidya told NGO representatives, leading citizens in the area, in addition to the association of truck owners and Nagatilla truck owners.
The ministers urge people to refrain from further protests or unwanted situations along the route to Mizoram to ensure smoothly the essential flow to neighboring countries.
