BENGALURU: Seeing that authorities don’t have any business to go ahead of the press and divulge the identity and also advice regarding the accused and the complainant in an issue under investigation, the Karnataka high court on Tuesday directed the state government to develop detailed guidelines in this respect.
Granting time until July 20, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka remarked the goal of instructions won’t be served when any disciplinary action is taken against people breaking criteria.
He explained that on most occasions, police could assert ahead of the media that there is a powerful case against the accused that the accused had acknowledged, along with other items.
This action of authorities going into the media or revealing the identity of accused/ complainant in addition to character and substance accumulated during the analysis impacts the rights of those accused of bond issues as well as the trial,” he added.

The court is hearing a PIL filed by H Nagabhushan Rao, a Bengaluru-based urge.
